Live Broadcasts Using Periscope
What is Periscope?
Periscope is the new video streaming platform that lets you broadcast live video to the world. Periscope enables you to “go live” via your mobile device anytime and anywhere. Using Periscope, you can become your own “on the go” broadcasting station, streaming video and audio to any viewer who joins your broadcast. It's a creation of Twitter that is catching on and it's FREE. It's better than Meerkat and Facebook recently announced they've added live streaming video.
How it Works
Before going live, your followers will be invited to join your broadcast. They'll need to have the Periscope app installed on their IOS or Android device and have a Twitter account. When they join your broadcast, they will be able to comment and send hearts with a tap on the screen. Think of hearts like using stars for rating or likes. The more hearts you get, the more they flutter on the screen.
Periscope is NOT only for people traveling, sharing personal experiences and such. Celebrities, Businesses, News Media, Realtors®, Politicians and more are scoping.
Businesses use Periscope to reach their target audience with information about products and services. They also use it to broadcast events and meetings. Scopes can be set to be private.
Presidential Candidates scoping include: Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Hillary Clinton, Ted Cruz … well, the list goes on.
Preachers, teachers and mom's in bleachers are scoping.
Realtors are broadcasting meetings, staging of homes, previewing - showing homes, home inspections, hot new property listings, local events and more. They're using Periscope to build their brand, increasing listings and sales.
Think outside the box ... be creative on how you can put this tool to use for your business. Your broadcast can be casual or one with purpose. Keep it no longer than 3 minutes unless your are broadcasting a training session or event. Get straight to the topic ... don't let comments distract you. Remember scopes are live for 12 hours and can be viewed on demand. However you can save the scope and post it on YouTube, your website, Facebook, etc.
