Do I need a responsive designed website?
Let's start with what is responsive. A responsive designed website scales to fit any screen size of the device used by a visitor of a website. If your site is responsive in design ... kudos!!! If it isn't responsive, then you should consider making it responsive.
Why? Because search traffic is rapidly increasing from mobile devices, tablets and smart phones, a website needs to resize to fit the screen without losing content or quality. If a visitor to your website has to zoom in and out, scroll up, down and sideways to see your content, he will quickly move on to your competition. Google took notice and provided an app to test your website for mobile-friendliness. If in doubt, here's the link to test your website.
A few months before this post, Google started flagging the mobile-friendly websites in mobile search results. If a website isn't mobile-friendly, it drops below those that are tagged as mobile-friendly. Google's mission is to deliver the best possible search results so that users will have a good user experience.
